This is the tutorial for you:

I just used it the other day. a bit long but it covers the topic well. -
Thanks for the feedback. I found from more tests that setting both min and max sliders at 73 gets me pretty close to the expected bitrate. Why it is at that number serves a great mystery to me, but now knowing that I can adjust from there.
One more thing I found, and not sure why, was the slider for 1 Pass Quality VBR did not affect resulting file size, and quite honestly it was tough seeing differences in the results. While one slider made more sense, it didn’t seem to do much.
Once again, thanks for the response.

Restart did it… as it usually does. You know, I was a little too proud to ask this, but I’m glad I did. I forget sometimes that when there is lots of work, it’s not just me who needs to nap; so too does the computer.
Thanks for the help.

I have compressed a QT Ref into an MPEG2 Video and Audio file (M2V for video and WAV for audio), brought that into Avid DVD by sonic, v5.6.
Funny thing is I deleted the media, reimported it and now the discs burn. It’s kind of a hack, but it is fixed. It is a pretty annoying fix for a large project, but luckilly this is a simple disc i have made.

I just installed a new drive to fully rule out hardware issue, but it did the same thing except this time it offered an error statement:
File not a valid MPEG – 20402.I will look into this more.
Once again, I appreciate the responses on this. I have attempted both suggestions, but to no avail. Nonetheless thanks for the assistance so far.

I join in with the rest of the good cheers; the DVD is tremendous. It not only helps you with compression for web video, but the concepts fan out to all aspects of video compression.
Very concise, insightful and well put together.

September 9, 2007 at 3:20 am in reply to: Importing Quick Times with Alpha from AE into AvidIn Avid when you import, try the “reverse” option on the alpha import settings. When I export a QT out of After Effects for Avid that option always works. If you have already tried just let me know and I can provide more specifics, but that usually is the issue.

Thank you for the feedback. I like what you said about the library-style project being too much hastle. This has been my biggest concern with co-workers I am developing this system with. It appears to be organization vs unique tape labeling with them. Well thanks for this, it helps me out tremendously.
