Pasting text in After Effects
Posted by John M. rice on November 4, 2007 at 3:28 pmI can’t copy text outside and paste it in After Effects. It seems so simple, but an issue the same. My kingdom for the fix.

November 4, 2007 at 3:56 pmyou should be able to copy and paste text from any document with editable (selectable) text right into a text layer (or text effect, like basic text or path text).
– select and copy the text from the document.
– go to ae, open or create a comp.
– select the text tool and click within the comp preview window (or apply basic/path text to a layer).
– select paste.if that’s not working, then there is a problems somewhere else. you may want to check your clipboard settings and make wure there isn;t something strange going on there, or even try shutting down the computer for about 30 seconds and rebooting (it seems simple, but it often helps with unexplained computer problmes).

November 4, 2007 at 6:49 pmRestart did it… as it usually does. You know, I was a little too proud to ask this, but I’m glad I did. I forget sometimes that when there is lots of work, it’s not just me who needs to nap; so too does the computer.
Thanks for the help.
