  • I’d suggest before we go to all the trouble that you do a quick test.

Send a quick timeline to DiVinci and see if it works. (if you’re not the one doing the color grade just download DiVindi Lite…)

  • Ok, so, assuming that you actually meant 01:57:49;27-02:19:19;22,

    Then:

01:57:42;25 is the non-drop frame equivalent of 01:57:49;27.

Somewhere, something didn’t know the clip was drop frame. Both Programs apear to be counting the actual clip as dropframe, but FCP and QT appear to be counting the Timecode leading up to the start of the clip as non-drop.

What camera (or program) generated this clip?

  • Are you sure it’s 02:57:49;27-02:19:19;22? cause the second number is before the first….

  • I can’t get to my computer to test, but try making a new sequence with a stereo master and then drop the sequence with your project into the new one?

  • Glad to know that 4 channels in ProRes works. I miss understood when you told me it worked before.

I’ve heard of multichannel .mov files not working before, but I’m glad to hear they can work, that it isn’t a problem every time.

I know. If you render the entire work area, even footage that isn’t marked with a color is rendered.

I wanted you to try that as a test, to see if that did anything different.

what happens if you select “Render Entire Work Area” instead of “Render Effects in Work Area” (which is I assume what you’re doing now?)

I was just suggesting that if you weren’t planing to edit the video in anyway, just encode it for web, that you could import it straight into AME.

Otherwise you just Export>Media and then queue it to send it to AME.

And yes, the settings are exactly the same. However, the rendering engines are slightly different. Every once and a while AME does something weird so I render in PP instead, and it works. (I had a video come out blue… just the blue color channel… but rendering in PP worked just fine.)

  • Yep. The GTX580 is supported natively, no need to edit the text file!

By the way, I’ve heard that the GTX580 is also the best card with DiVinci Resolve, beating even a Tesla.

  • Well, you can probably chock this one up to Quicktime rather then Premiere. Just strip out the audio channels and import them separately and then merge the clips back together.

Or, if you have the original MXFs just import them and it’ll all work.
