Linked AE comps have errors…
I’m new from FCP and was very excited for the AE integration, but I’m getting strange errors.
I’m using 5.5 on Lion, and have a string of talking heads I’ve graded with Looks and added alpha to in AE, using “replace with AE comp.”
I have a background video on V1, and the comps on V2. Playing through unrendered doesn’t keep up, and once rendered audio playback is fine, CTI scrolls as normal, but video jumps around from comp to comp almost randomly, only playing where it should about 40% of the time.
I’ve shut down and restarted, slipped my background video to force a re-render, and I keep getting the same problem, though not exactly the same each time.
Any ideas?

what happens if you select “Render Entire Work Area” instead of “Render Effects in Work Area” (which is I assume what you’re doing now?)

I am rendering the entire work area – unrendered is yellow.

I know. If you render the entire work area, even footage that isn’t marked with a color is rendered.
I wanted you to try that as a test, to see if that did anything different.

So… if I render the comps in After Effects and import .movs like I would in FCP all is well, but if I wanted to do that I would just use FCP. I even re-installed 5.5 figuring something got corrupted somewhere – no luck.
Where is the best place to go for answers on this?
