April 18, 2019 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Premiere gives me Warp Stabilizer errors (but there isn’t any)Was this project started in 13.1 or did you update mid-project? I’ve seen questions about this behavior on other boards, and in those cases, the software was updated mid-project. Re-analysing the stabilization was the solution, making me think there’s something about Warp Stabilizer in 13.1 that’s marginally different than previous versions.
Just a thought.

But even in HD, I routinely enlarge to 105%-110%, or even larger, with quite acceptable quality (“acceptable” being subjective) depending on your video’s final destination. So you should be able to make minor framing adjustments in 4k or UHD with little ill effects. For example, if a handheld shot is not quite level, you can probably enlarge it enough to rotate the shot a few degrees. It just depends on how unreasonably finicky you are about quality.

It’s also worth mentioning that data transfer off the camera cards should be to TWO hard drives (three is even better). Then when FedEx loses your shipment, you still have a copy on your footage. Ship the second copy after the first one arrives safely.

March 19, 2019 at 10:18 pm in reply to: Using Lumetri color panel with multiple lumetri effects on a clipPremiere 2019 added the ability to add new instances of Lumetri from within Lumetri, and select which one the panel is looking at. Once you rename them in Effects Controls, its easy to navigate from one to the other.

“Use Previews” only applies if you’re encoding to the same format as your previews – it doesn’t prevent rendering again. Check “use previews” in conjunction with checking “Match Sequence Settings” at the top of the Export Media dialogue, and your export should go very quickly. (This is called Smart Rendering.) So if your 1080 sequence is set to create I-frame MPEG previews, you’ll get a 1080 MPEG file which you can use to make other files in AME. I set my previews to QuickTime ProResHQ, so when I finished my project, I export using Match Sequence Settings and Use Previews to make a PRHQ master file, and open that in AME to make deliverables.

Not really an answer, but for what it’s worth, I think the conventional wisdom these days is that Merged Clips can be problematic in all kinds of ways. This is especially true if you plan to send your project for audio post. Many users would tell you the better workflow for second system sound is to use Multicam instead, and either flatten all the multicam before sending your project off or edit using the “no-nest” setting.

This has puzzled me as well. I thought it was a CMYK/RGB thing, but I just made some RGB colors in AI and they’re still grayed out in Pr. So I searched on the Adobe Forums:
https://forums.adobe.com/message/10833844#10833844The “correct answer” says it’s not a bug but “by design.” The way to see colors in full is to make the palette into a graphic in Photoshop.
Seems clunky. I hope they “redesign” this “feature.”

February 20, 2019 at 7:04 pm in reply to: How do you Change the Color of an Illustrator File in Premiere Pro?You could put a Color Matte on one track and the AI file on another, and use Track Matte Key on the color matte pointing to the track with the AI file. To make that less clunky to work with, nest those two clips together.
Or hey – if you have the full CC subscription, open the file in Illustrator. ????. Just kidding – I can see the need for being able to change it from within Premiere.

February 19, 2019 at 9:38 pm in reply to: “Green Screen” on Program/Source Monitor IssueOther forums I’m on, users point to a GPU problem when this pops up. There are a lot of Windows users out there who need to update their GPU drivers. You might make sure there isn’t an update available that didn’t get installed alongside Mojave.
