Those are metal evaporate tapes and don’t hold up nearly as well as metal particle, which are used in dvcpro line, beta sp, 3/4inch, MII, etc…
dv tape holds a very strong signal and running it through a demagnitizer doesn’t work.
If you want to erase all the previous material, I’d suggest stripping it with black and no audio.

I use an HHB MD500 and it allows markers.. and transfers digital through usb port to computer, very durable, intuitive, with reasonable media costs.

June 16, 2005 at 12:53 am in reply to: Which laptop processor for editing? I use Adobe Premiere ProM processors are a hybred of PIII and PIV design, taking the best of each. I’m working with one in a Dell 9300 and it beats my P4 3.0 northwood system. Most laptop hard drives are at least 5400 and there are several 7200rpm models. Dell offers a 7200 60 gig and 80 gig internal. The 9300 also can be purchased with a GO6800 card/256megs and DVI/s-video/vga out. I’m using the Dell 9300 with premiere and vegas without a hitch, even when capturing to an external dinky usbpowered 5400 60gig external drive while running DV-rack. I like the 9300 for the price.

I use a bogan with a quick release head, the monopod itself has a grip release that allows adjustment of height with one hand.. Don’t have the model number now and it is packed with gear from the last time I used it…
Don’t use it much, but to stablize a palmcam it works fine.. last time I used it was with my PDX10 in 16:9 as cut shots of the crowd at a concert that was being mastered with Ikegami dv7 cams… works great for that app.

I like motherboards made by intel for video work. They are stable and no frills. Look at the 875 series by Intel if you’re going P4 single processor.
