September 11, 2008 at 3:53 pm in reply to: OT: Recent System Builds – Recommendations?

I totally agree with John. I have built 3 systems over the past year with Intel boards and processors. Rock solid systems with great support. I think that plenty of space for ram for the future of Vegas 64 bit is very important. It may not be long before new boards will feature not only Sata, but HDMI and the new USB3 ports as well. Good luck!

Did you check on Blackmagic’s site for system hardware requirements for the Intensity Pro? You may possibly be having hardware/driver issues.

September 6, 2008 at 6:15 pm in reply to: Import AVCHD Camcorder error

I am now shooting on Panasonic AVCHD cameras using SDHC cards. I open the BDMV folder, then the Stream folder and drag the MTS files to my media drive. Vegas 8.0b works very well with AVCHD on the timeline in one of my systems I am testing with – a simple PC with Core2Duo 6600 and 2 GB of ram using Vista as the OS. It was a little confusing at first, as I naturally looked in the DCIM folder for the files.

Mike, I failed to mention that my project properties are set at HDV 1440 x 1080, as the AVCHD files are also 1440 x 1080, and that I plan to hang on to this project for awhile as I plan to eventually burn it to Blu Ray. For the time being, it will go to DVD Architect Widescreeen in SD.

Installer stops just before the end saying, “cannot find Netframe” even though it is already installed.

Mike, I once aligned a 3-Tube JVC camera(operator error hitting the align switch instead of the white balance) on the back of a spectator’s cross patterned shirt during an outdoor boxing match. Maybe there should be another Cow Forum – “Geezer Video Adventures” to accomodate us!

Welcome to the Vegas Forum, Bruce. A local NBC affiliate still had a Quad(2″ Videotape Width)VTR in it’s production room when I first opened for business. Had a few Quad orders come through that were dubbed to 3/4″ videotape(our production standard at the time), there. I did, however, work on several 1″ Type C productions, including lugging a giant 1″ Field Recorder around tethered to out Ikegami 3 Tube camera. Did you ever get the feeling that most of the folks who follow these forums have no idea what we are talking about?
