Have you tried to Trash the Preferences in FCP, yet?

Did something unusual happen just prior to this problem happening? Since you have trashed prefs and then reloaded FCP, this is very STRANGE.

If you have another User Login, try using FCP in that environment, to see if it’s the application or the user.

    This is indeed, very Bizarre!

I guess waiting until the very last moment to get a deal is not a good idea. Originally, the Xgrade program was supposed to end last year but Apple extended it until March 30. I really believe they wanted anyone with a version of FCP to get this deal. Sorry about that. I hope you can prove some way that you really did send them out earlier!

PCI-Express is way fastr than a PCI-X at 133 Mhz. The PCI-E card came out later than the PCI-X version and it cost less to build – apparently. Check out the comparisons chart on http://www.decklink.com for differences. Not much.

Worry NOT! This was a problem first discovered by BareFeats, several months ago. It has since been resolved. Go to http://www.barefeats.com to see the reviews on 750 GB drives inside a macPro.

DVCPRO HD is not particularly CPU or RAM hungry. It is transferable over Firewire 400 and the data rates are slightly under 10 MB second. I think even a 2.66 Ghz MacPro would work splendidly for you.

I use DVDPRO HD at 720p and 1080i on my Quad G5 tower and my MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz with an external RAID for security.

Always buy the most speed you can get for the money at the time you purchase so that it will last longest over time. 4 GB RAM is plenty sufficient and one additional internal 500 or 750 GB SATA drive ought to get you going nicely.

April 3, 2007 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Using the Duel Adapter to import P2 contents

    Thanks Jan,

I would like to ask if you could be a little more specific about this adapter used on a MacBook Pro. I know that this is not a Panasonic issue, but any helpful information about using this with my HVX200 will be most appreciated.

If your beta testing associate has been able to make the Duel Adapter work importing P2 contents into the MBP, I would really like to know what steps are required to make it happen.

    Gary,

I can capture HVX 1080i directly over Firewire to my MacBook Pro with a 1.0 TB SATA Raid attached.

Since the 8GB cards leave a lot to be desired for a long form capture, this is my currenmt solution.

You would probably be wise to do the crossgrade to Final Cut Studio 5.1 while the price holds.

Motion is a very interesting application that can revolutionize your workflow one you understand the basics. It is much like Photoshop in some ways because it uses Layers, but you can work while the project is in motion. it can be used much like After Effects except that you do not have to keyframe graphic movements because it uses Behaviors to move things around.

Motion is simple and complex all at the same time. It is not as feature rich as AE but can do some things in record time for a quick motion graphic.

Get your self a book or DVD training and jump in!
