Did you have Frame Controls on in Compressor? If not, turn them on and set the Resizing quality at best. If the frame rate is different in the exported file also set the Retiming quality setting to better or best. Test a small portion to see if that helps.

So, the file you exported from FCP is 4.13GB? What codec did you use? Does it need to stay that codec? If not, what codec does your client want?

I tried with 10 audio tracks and four video tracks, I could drag them all from one sequence into another with no problem. Do you have any tracks locked in the master? If you actually drag the sequence file from the browser into another sequence it appears in the new sequence as a nest would with just two audio tracks. Or, you can make a nest of just your audio tracks and that would bring it down to two tracks if you’re configured for stereo or dual mono.

Progressive usually keys more easily because there are no fields which in an interlaced timeline blurs the edges making the key a bit more difficult. More than i or P, make sure your greenscreen is evenly lit. Use a waveform monitor to be sure, and shoot with a codec that has a 4:2:2 or better color space. Again, there are ways around all of this, but shooting it correctly at the beginning will make your edit life much easier.

I believe that camera has an HDMI out. You’d connect that to your monitor. Marshall and others make small monitors with HDMI ins.

We use the AES digital signal from our Kona3 into our mixer which does the D/A and A/D. But as all the other aspects of the Kona are first-rate, I expect the analogue audio out would be perfectly fine. We use the analogue audio out from our older AJA IO and it’s excellent.

We use HD Log from Imagine Products. There’s also P2 Flow from MXF4MAC. My workflow suggestion is immediately set the protection tab on the card and always make at least 2 backups of your data before any editing. This data is your master. You wouldn’t record over a master tape. Manipulating data is doing just that so protect it.
