I exported from an HDV source to a 640×360, 1200kbps, .h264 file from Quicktime Pro and the result looks fantastic, but it is slow.

So I tried the same thing in Compressor (same size and data rate) but the text within my video (a fairly thin font) has jagged edges no matter what data rate I try.

    What is going on?

I want to take advantage of Qmaster virtual clusters and render quickly.

Thanks for any input you may have.

Did you have Frame Controls on in Compressor? If not, turn them on and set the Resizing quality at best. If the frame rate is different in the exported file also set the Retiming quality setting to better or best. Test a small portion to see if that helps.

Thanks for your input John. That has it looking 70% better.

I then adjusted the deinterlace to “better” and that has it looking just like the QT export!

    Glad it worked out.
