As Rafael mentioned using your system drive for media should never be done. The OS is working constantly and will interrupt the video. Put media on an external FW800 or better drive as suggested. USB 1 or 2 (don’t know about 3) shouldn’t be used for similar reasons. It will not playback continuously.

The advice above is excellent, but if the problem persists, try an audio mixdown: Sequence Menu > Render Only > Mixdown.

I always run Disk Warrior after the OS upgrade, then Repair Permissions. Then I Repair Permissions after each program install, and run Disk Warrior again at the end. Always DW first, then Repair Permissions.

Have you tried Perian. It’s a Quicktime component so if it opens it, you’ll be able to export a ProRes file.

You’re right. Like any filters applied to audio or video tracks there comes the point you have to render. And that depends on how beefy your processors are as well as your RT settings.

If you search for “HD upgrade” in this forum you’ll find a lot of info. You’ll find various drive makers to your left and right on this page. All are reputable. For monitors checkout FSI. They often have an ad running, but I didn’t see it today.

Another possibility is it’s caused by your shutter speed beating against the frequency of the lighting source, although, I don’t know why that’d happen on only one shot. Do you know what kind of lighting was used? How did you shoot this – camera, codec, framerate & shutter? It could also be rf interference from a close transmitter that was only on during that shot. I’m not sure if there’s a way to get rid of it. You might try the limit feature in the 3-say color corrector to remove/change the color of the bands. Here’s a link to a tutorial showing how to remove banding in DSLR footage. Hope it helps..

And you should make 2 changes to the ac3 preset to achieve optimal results. In Compressor’s Inspector (with the ac3 preset selected) in the Audio tab change Dialog Normalization from -27 to -31. And in the Preprocessing tab change the Compression Preset to None.
