It is because of the drive loading. All drives start slowing down as you exceed 50% capacity. As you approach totally full it in effect slows down faster. That’s why your drive with 200GB left is faster than the one with 100GB left.

As Ty says, listening to the phones during record will likely only monitor the input signal. The best way to check your program is record a bit, then playback and evaluate that signal.

My only thought is to Google Quicktime Repair and search the Cow, too. There are a couple of programs/services out there that might help. It’s possible that the file’s just missing a header so QT doesn’t recognize it.

But as Michael pointed out, first, make a copy of your media. Cinema Tools changes the file it works on.

I believe the speed (or time) control is in the Motion tab in FCP5. It’s been a while. Double-click your clip, then click on the Motion tab in the Viewer and open the Speed (it may be called something else) twirl-down. Enter the % change you want and that’s it. There may be a frame blending check box. Try it on and off to see which you like.

Did you capture from the camera or transfer from the card or hard drive. Do you have backups? Have you tried to capture/transfer again? It’d help if you describe your workflow in more detail.

You are correct about the 48kHz sample rate. You can use Soundtrack Pro or Quicktime Pro to open the 44.1 audio and export as 48. But, I think this is not alone causing your sync issue. I believe the 722 has a frame rate setting that should be matched exactly to the frame rate the cameras are using. The problem is your cameras may be shooting at different rates. For instance, the Flip may be shooting exactly 30fps while your video cams may be shooting 29.97 or 59.94. I’m not familiar with your cameras. You need to be sure of the frame rates. Now, if the Flip is the only one shooting true 30fps you can use Compressor to change its clip’s frame rate to 29.97 or whatever it needs to be. Once everything is consistent, you should be good to go.
