I’ve never tried to measure it, but I imagine the KiPro output would be superior to a Blu-ray which has been compressed. But I can’t say if the difference would be visible to most. Did you do a direct A/B comparison of the two?

You don’t mention what you intend to use to record the audio. Whatever it is you must be able to sync it as Bouke suggests. There’s the Sound Devices 788t that has timecode, but only records 96kHz. However, I’m not sure if there’s even an easy way to play 192kHz audio with video. You’d probably have to play your video off one device which would be chased by a Pro Tools – or other – DAW playing out the audio.

I’m not familiar with the Red’s audio workflow, but once tracks are in the timeline, you can easily switch from stereo to dual mono or vice versa by selecting the tracks and hitting Opt-L.

H.264 is an excellent codec that will shrink the file size. The parameter that affects file size is data rate. So if the file’s too big after you encode lower the data rate. Conversely, if the file’s under your maximum size you can increase the data rate to get higher quality. If you Google data rate calculator you may find one that will do the calculation for you. And don’t forget that 8 kilobits (8kb) = 1 Kilobyte (1KB).

How did you get to Compressor? I export a self-contained QT using current settings. Then use that file in Compressor. Also, checkout the FCS Maintenance Pack. It has a free trial.

I believe the maximum length of a sequence in FCP is 12 hours. I don’t know if that’s a FCP or QT limit.

I’ve found pngs to be much better than jpeg exports from PPT. Depending on the aspect of the PPT in FCP you may have to use the Distort tool in the Motion tab to adjust.
