Another thought is to try a Waves plugin called Renaissance Bass. It works psycho-acoustically by adding in harmonics of a bass freq to make the fundamental freq more prominent. The listener’s brain upon hearing those harmonics better “hears” the fundamental freq. Who thinks of this stuff?

I like yje idea of Universe a lot. I do make my own Motion effects/transitions, but only when an idea jumps out at me. I’m a fan of Core Melt. I bought their Complete package for Legacy and they made the FCPX versions available for free. Love SliceX and TrackX. They are another very good company.

What Shane said. Look at the list of choices you have in System Preferences>Displays>Color tab. Perhaps a different choice will provide better results.

You can shape and color mask in FCPX which helps in many cases. Also, SliceX from Core Melt uses a Mocha tracker inside of which you can color correct. It’s saved me a lot of time and effort. And they’ve recently released TrackX which I immediately bought, but haven’t used yet.

Bill is correct. It’s important to realize that every stage through the flow of your audio signal may be clipped (=distorted). So a mic that’s not over-driven by loud sounds might still deliver a signal that’s too loud to the preamp in a mixer or camera. So the preamp stage may distort even if the meter looks good. Putting the pad (basically a kind of volume control) between the mic and preamp lowers the signal to a point where the preamp doesn’t distort. You can buy pads that have switchable amounts of volume cut. BTW, all this is just another reason to always listen to playback.
