I have shot ballet where a scrim was used. It did not moire. In most wide shots the pattern/texture of the scrim isn’t resolved so no moire. If you shot a closeup where the scrim was in focus, then you might see moire. Generally, there’s not a lot of contrast between a scrim and cyc which also helps. High contrast patterns/lines tend to moire more.

I’ve read a lot about the BMCC audio. Someone did some very exhaustive testing. It was on the BM Forum orBM User Forum. Search therefor BMCC Audio and it will probably pop up. There was lot of fiddling with EQ in post to sort of solve the audio issue. In practice, it may make more sense to simplycgo second system audio.

My impression from reading about the dmw-yagh is it will deliver professional audio. It has xlr inputs, mic/line and phantom power and on-board level control and metering. I haven’t seen any hands-on reviews of it, but the specs look good. And from a video point of view the dmw-yagh delievers tremendous additional video benefits. Here’s a blurb about it.

I agree with all Peter said. I’d add that in my experience during ADR sessions the greatest attention is paid to the actor’s performance matching the original – even to the extent that mouth flaps don’t match.

My vote is different partitions. I don’t know if 10.0.9 and 10.1.1 can peaceably co-exist. You can open the old with the new FCPX, covert to new and also retain the old events/projects Going from new to old- maybe use XML.

That kind of problem is a challenge. Most background noise reduction plugins won’t work well because the noise isn’t random. Depending on the dominant frequency of the sound, EQ might help. It’s possible iZotope RX3 might help if the noise can be discerned visibly in its display.

I’m not sure, but I expect that PE would move the video clips into position to sync with the audio. If need be, you could cut up the audio into clips.

Plural Eyes will use audio waveforms to sync as long as there’s audio on all devices. FCPX does it all by itself using audio and/or timecode and you can place markers to aid sync as well.
