Checkout this post by Marco Solorio of OneRiver Media. It describes in detail how they use B4 HD lenses on a BMCC. To start you need an HD lens with a 2X tele-extender. You can find adaptors that do that, but most are expensive.

I’m a fan of G-Tech storage for field use. For editing, I’m waiting for a Promise2 R6 RAID drive. One-on-one, USB3 is faster than e-Sata. But, if you have a number of USB devices connected at the same time that might slow down the transfer rate to the lowest speed drive and so, e-Sata might be faster in that situation.

Sorry, I missed you wanted to make a Blu Ray. Unfortunately, DVDSP won’t work for that. However, once you have the mv2 & ac3 from Compressor I believe Toast with its Blu Ray plugin will make the disc. I’ve never been asked for a Blu Ray so I’m not an expert on that. I’ve read a lot of posts about it on the COW over the years so a search should get you more info. Walter Biscardi posted a lot about making Blu Rays.

Compressor makes the mv2 and the ac3 files. You use an authoring program like DVD Studio Pro to marry the 2 together to produce the DVD. You’ll find more info on the DVDSP forum.

CoreMelt also has a great mask tool that also tracks called SliceX. Using that would help with the overlap. The are demos and tutorials at CoreMelt.

Good thoughts all. If you’re not aware of them, CoreMelt’s SliceX and TrackX (both powered by Mocha) are tremendous tools and not too expensive. They each paid for themselves the first time I used them.

I can think of 2 ways to do this. All graphics in Motion or AfterFX, or shooting the scene with white cards for the polaroid backgrounds then tracking those shapes and inserting the videos. You could do the latter inside FCPX using CoreMelt’s excellent TrackX plugin (with Mocha). I’m not sure which way is easiest. I’d probably try the tracking approach.

Nice. There used to be a plugin for FCP 7 called BigTime from Digital Heaven. Unfortunately they haven’t ported it to FCPX.
