Using 4K in a multi-cam HD video – Ken Burns without losing quality?
I will be shooting an upcoming concert with one 4K cam and two HD cams….so a multi cam.
When I select the 4K clip in the multi cam edit I would like to be able to move from left
of the clip(therefore the stage) to the right without losing quality…..Is this possible?
And if it is, how would you go about it?

You’ll always lose quality a bit when you zoom past 100% of your frame size- if that’s what you’re talking about. That said, it looks pretty good easily up to 125% or more.

No, pan only and not zoom…..
I specialize in live music videos so I want the 4K to be the entire stage.
In theory i should be able to capture the entire stage on the 4K and pan from left to right
without losing quality since I’m only panning. If I use a Ken Burns on the clip(by moving green all the way to the right and the red all the way to the left…this works but cuz it’s ken burns it also zooms it…How to accomplish that is the challenge.

Are you asking can you pan the 4k image in an HD project or 4k project?

Just make sure the 4K camera is fully in focus (it’s easy to be just off in 4K). With a good lens and sharp focus I get up to 3 x Scale in an HD timeline.

I would think if you made it an HD project, the HD footage would fill the screen as normal, but when you put in the UHD footage you would change its Spatial Conform to ‘None’ so it displays its normal size but only about a fourth of the picture would fall into the HD space and you can pan the UHD footage and neither the HD or UHD footage would be shrunk or expanded.
