It shouldn’t do that on its own. If you’re not careful when you point FC at the capture location this can happen. I used to create a different folder for each project on my RAID. I stopped doing that because when I had multiple projects going if I forgot to reset FC to the correct scratch folder I’d end up mixing project media.

We archive both the QTs made during Log & Transfer and all the MXFs. I think HD Log from Imagine products will batch digitize QTs from MXFs if you really want just QTs. But, you can always create QTs from the MXFs in the future. There is no quality difference between MXFs and QTs.

If your drive from the shoot has all the mxf data in folders you should copy all the info from the original drive to the new drive. Before you trash anything hook the new drive to fcp and make sure you can access the data.

If you have many audio tracks try an Audio Mixdown (Sequence>Render Only >Mixdown) and see if that helps. Have you trashed prefs and rebuilt permissions?

I’ve never used iDVD. How long is your program? Can you choose the data rate for encoding in iDVD? If so, what did you choose? Is it possible that the program would overfill the DVD and that’s why it’s stopping?
