If you already have a bunch of clips in your timeline you can globally change them all to 100%. Double-click the first and in the Motion tab change the scale from 112% to 100%. Then select & copy that first clip. Next, select the remaining clips and Paste Attributes. You’ll get the Paste Attributes box. Check Basic Motion & OK. All the remaining clips will be adjusted in scale to match the first.

Try searching the COW for “background process.” Use the quotes and I bet you’ll find your solution. I remember this happened to me many versions ago, but not the resolution.

I’m not the DP so I’m reporting what I’ve heard. They particularly like the eyebrow flags. Durability-wise we’ve had no problems.

May 19, 2009 at 3:04 pm in reply to: real size of the image in the CMOS

If you are trying to calculate the width and height of your set then I think all you need is the picture size ratio of width to height or 16:9. Some sensors produce images with this ratio, but their actual dimensions are different. So, 16/9 would equal width/height. If your set is limited by height, plug in that number and you can calculate the width (W = 16H/9) or vice versa (H = 9W/16). I hope that’s right. It’s been a while since algebra.

We have the Vocas and love it. We used it once with a wide angle adaptor (don’t remember which one) on our HPX500 and had no problems. That said, you might want to try the adaptor and matte box together before your shoot to be sure. That’s what we did.

It might be easier to do create those kinds of elements in Motion so updates would happen “instantly” after you save changes to your Motion project.

I don’t know this for sure, but in User Prefs try unchecking the “Abort capture on dropped frames.”

Have you inadvertently turned off the audio in the comp. Is the button on the left under the speaker icon selected? Also check the waveform to see if it’s there or if the gain’s been reduced.

May 18, 2009 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Advice to limit rendering time?

To avoid rendering you want to have all clips in the same codec. Prores might be the best choice. You capture the DigiBeta material as Prores. I don’t know if it’s possible to transcode the XDCAM clips to Prores as it’s transferred, but if so, you’d be golden. If not, you can transcode to Prores in Compressor. Make sure all clips share the same timebase.
