As Kevin says, you have to change the sample rate outside of FCP. You can use ST Pro, QT Pro, Compressor, MPEG Streamclip, etc.

Keep in mind that RAID performance degrades as it fills up, so you might want to go with 4 larger drives for 4 or 6TB of total storage. It really depends on how much storage you expect to use at any one time. And with RAID 5, 20% of the drive space will be used to store parity information. I went with a 6TB RAID not expecting to fill it more than 50%. BTW, while I don’t own the OWC RAID unit you mention, I have owned Mercury Elite drives which have been excellent.

I’ve used Compressor to make 29.97 versions of true 30fps files. However, Canon just released the FCP plugin that allows easy ingest of their EOS DSLR files.

I don’t know FCE, but if you drop a 24p clip into a 30p sequence in FCP, it won’t play properly. Canon is about to release an EOS plugin for FCP that will allow easy transfer of DSLR files into FCP.

You didn’t mention if the camera was panning to follow the car, but if it was, there are definite speed limits for panning in 24p beyond which the image will stutter. If you look in a copy of the American Cinematographer Manual, there are charts/graphs that show you the proper pan speed for a given frame rate. If you exceed it the image will stutter.

Try reinstalling the AJA drivers. Uninstall first to remove parts that might interfere with the reinstall.
