There’s a Bad TV filter in the Stylize menu. Or use can combine different filters to create your own effect. OTOH, a lot of cell video is looking pretty good these days.

If you haven’t trashed FCP prefs and Repaired Permissions try that. It’s the 1st thing to do when FCP suddenly gets weird.

I’ve never done this, but try laying them out in a sequence with the same settings as the clips. Then Export a QT using current settings as either self-contained or ref. Do not check recompress. Then import that combined clip and use it in your multicam seq.

If you are using Flip4Mac for wmv functionality you might trash its prefs, or try reinstalling it. Something’s unhappy. Have you been able to export good-looking wmvs on the tower before? You might also try running Disk Warrior, and then repair permissions.

I haven’t used crawl this way but it should work. Use the Motion tab to shift the crawl left to the center of the screen. You might have to keyframe the tail in the Motion tab for it to end the way you want.

I suggest not “sending to Compressor.” Instead, Export a QT using same settings, either ref or self-contained. Then, bring that file into Compressor.

We shoot everything in HD (for 3 years now) and don’t charge more for it. All corporate work so far has been released in SD. But the big advantage is down the road when everyone is viewing HD, our clients will have HD archives.

I’ve not used the Zoom, but many say it works well. I’ve been using a Marantz PMD761 for years and am very happy with its performance and flexibility. I suggest you find a re-seller who has a couple of units you’re interested in and test/compare them. You can take some files away on a flash drive and listen at home – all through the same audio chain.
