I’d check with your dealer. Sounds like a hardware issue of some sort.

Is the lack of sync seen by all the workstations or just one?

Do you do a clean install (wipes the drive and starts fresh) of the OS and FCP, as opposed to installing over the existing OS & FCP?

When you double-click a clip in the browser and it opens in the viewer, do you see two mono audio tracks shown (A1, A2) or a single stereo audio track?

Have you trashed prefs and repaired permissions? If not, try that. It’s the first action I take when FCP gets strange.

Having clips become unrendered when you try to export is not normal. You are right that if you have unrendered clips when you export, FCP will render them. However, after the export, the clips in the seq will still be unrendered (that’s normal). Rendering the clips first, before export, is the correct workflow.

BTW, did you repair permissions after trashing your prefs? Also, if you have Disk Warrior, I’d run it. The directory could be corrupt so clips suddenly become unlinked or missing. DW could fix that. So might repairing permissions. If you run DW, repair permissions after DW finishes.

As David suggests make sure the camera is using the latest firmware and is shooting 23.976 or 29.97, and not shooting 24 or 30 fps. If the latter rates are used the editor will have sync challenges.

I’m not an expert with Media Manager and I’m sure others who use it will have some recommendations. There’s an excellent Cow tutorial on how to use Applr Automator. You might be able to use it for your task.

Richard Harrington has a Cow tutorial on Fixing Exposure. What would be helpful for you is the discussion of how to isolate colors in a scene with the 3-way Color Corrector and then affect them.

If you are Capturing, make sure both audio tracks are turned on in the Clip Settings tab in Log & Capture. If this happens when you Import, are you sure the clip actually has 2 channels? Where are you seeing only 1 channel?

“Out of memory” often is an indication of bad media. It could be video clip or, say, a jpeg that’s too large. Checkout Digital Rebellion’s FCS Maintenance Pack with the Corrupt Clip Finder.

Or, you can try exporting different portions of your seq to see if you can isolate which portion is causing the issue. Start with the 1st half of the seq. If it’s good try the 2nd half. If it’s bad the try 1/2 of that bad portion and then the other half if the 1st is good. Keep going until you find the bad media.
