  • Import and Transfer – Red and Canon

    Hi,

I’ve recently upgraded to a Mac Pro. I’ve installed all the apps and plug in and drivers. So it’s totally up to date as far as I can tell.

I’ve been trying to import and transfer some RED and Canon 5D footage and don’t seem to be having any luck at all. I can see the preferences tab for both the Red and the Canon but when I go to select the folders or files none of them will show up in the Log n Transfer window…

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks…

You have to keep the original folder structure as it was created by red to be able to see them appear. It works perfect for me in fcs 3 log and transfer tool with the red r3d footage.

    Good luck!

    Hi Adam,

Can you go through in some more detail the steps you are taking, and it’ll be clearer where you’re going wrong – or if all the steps are correct then you’re probably still missing drivers/plugins/updates.

    Thanks,

Both types of media require the original folder structure on the CF cards or drive used. If you have consolidated the media only onto another drive, you may not be able to use log and transfer. There is pretty good documentation with RED (the whitepaper included with the FCS installer) and on Canon’s website (I think).

For the 5D here’s a link to the Canon plugin. Be sure to select Mac OS X to see the plugin download link.

Here’s a page about using the plugin.
