Some cameras can shoot at both 59.94 and 50Hz system frequencies. Our HPX500 does this. The only downside to shooting 59.94 in a PAL country is lights may appear to flicker as the 50 Hz a/c line freq might beat with the 59.94 shooting system freq.

As you probably only have one or two projects open at the same time, having all those folders doesn’t matter. What often limits playback is the speed of your drives. That’s why having a robust RAID is imperative. Another possibility contributing to lagging playback is poor directory health. This can be eliminated by using Disk Warrior and then repairing permissions. Many people do this once a month to prevent issues from cropping up. It doesn’t hurt to periodically trash prefs as well.

Does each of the 175 folders represent a different project? Having a second folder for associated media should be fine. I do this all the time, although, I usually put it inside the capture scratch project folder. That way I just archive one folder and everything connected to the project is in one place.

They should all be 48k. If any exports are meant to be used in another NLE your audio will be non-standard at 44.1. That said, I agree all the audio should be consistent or PluralEyes won’t be happy. If you make all of the clips 44.1 you can set FCP to accept that sample rate without having to constantly render. In the future make sure your cameras and Zoom are recording 16 or 24 bit 48kHz PCM.

Just convert the 44.1 audio to PCM 16 or 24 bit 48kHz with an app other than FCP (Soundtrack Pro, QT Pro, MPEG Streamclip, etc.). Then you should be good to go.

If you do this with hardware you’ll come closer to the look you want. Your challenge is you’re starting with the DV codec which looks nothing like HD even if you center-cut the HD. A Teranex is the best hardware box followed by Kona (or similar). Another approach if you need the footage to match is to downconvert the HD to SD.
