  • Set up all the animations, moves, everything on your text in the final comp. Select them all and move them into a precomp(shift+cntl+C). Now change the track matte to the solid to inverted alpha.

Yeah, that’s what I meant, Freeform Pro, not shapeshifter.

I think there are a few methods that could get you those results. For plugins, Trapcode Form, and Mettle Shapeshifter both could produce those results.

If you want to stay within AE, I you would want to precomp some type white/black map and then use the distort – displacement map effect, maybe in combination with some other of the distort effects(bezier warp, mesh warp, bulge).

That doesn’t really make sense if you have 2 audio tracks. If you can save back to CS6 and collect, zip the files and upload(last icon in the reply dialogue), I would take a look at the project.

Otherwise do a screen grab or capture of what is happening with any changed layers twirled open.

Looks like a combination of the roughen edges effect(creates deterioration over time) & glow.

Much of that was probably done with Shape Layers, where you can manipulate the end cap a little more.

FYI – you could probably do it with the default Particle Playground, but that is a tough particle emitter to use. And if you try particular and you have some specific questions come back and we can work through it in more detail.
