All you can do making video is create is as correctly as possible with video legal limits. Unless you yourself are supply the final monitors, it would be absolutely futile trying to produce correctly for other monitors, it’s not within your control. Best you can do is have a well-calibrated monitor to show the client and say here it is, this it what it looks like when displayed correctly and please leave your check on the desk on the way out.

if you use the the File > Collect Files command, a new .aep will reference the copied files. If you need it to reference the copied file and it isn’t just right click the audio file in the project window and select replace footage.

Another effect that can be used to create “Xmas” is the Vegas effect, haven’t found too many tutorials, but Andrew Kramer does use it in this video.

Without breaking down her workflow, it sounds like her NLE and clips are RGB but where the final file is going it’s being converted to 709. IE, 0 becomes 16, 255 clipped to 235.

My problem is usually the opposite.

Ahh, the joys of color space, RGB and video. Along with Walter’s questions, what are your project settings(File Project Settings). Also, right click the footage in the project panel and click “Interpret Footage”. Check the color management and see if it has the correct color profile.

AE for some codecs(Avid DNxHD) chooses the wrong profile. Since I work with DNxHD all the time, I’ve modified the interpretation document so that it does this correctly(though now it does other wrong, but I don’t work with those codecs enough to worry about it—I correct them in AE on a case by case basis)
