What version are you using? Haven’t had any problems like it not rendering effects, have you tried making a submaster and rendering that?

No problem. Not so much for me, but I think a lot of people who visit the Cow could greatly benefit from the tuts you created. You did a very nice job.
Possible Ron or Kathryn could host them for you. Personally I think it those tuts would answer 75% of the questions we get in this forum.

You are correct, I copied the link from a post he had created earlier, but it seems his site is gone. Would be very unfortunate, he had created about 10 podcast tutorials.
See if I can contact him, maybe he could put those podcasts here on the COW, they would be very informative and answer a lot of encore questions.

DVD only accepts 8 bit color for highlights, I wouldn’t be surprised that the colors look bad.
You may need to make multiple menus/autoactive fuction to achieve your desired results.

Exactly what do you have to do with the footage? Does it have to remain full screen?
If I were forced to work with that, I would be looking at incorporating graphics with the video, some kind of borders perhaps with the name of the award. Anything to make the video smaller then full screen.
Also take a look at blur, unsharp mask. May help to sharpen the video a bit.

You have safety lines in Encore to let you know what’s considered Action Safe & Title Safe. Now with newer TV’s these mean a lot less then they did 10 years ago, I pretty much still use the safety’s. This way I know that anything I produce will play on any set out there. I wouldn’t ever put anything that I needed to show near the edges of the screen.

Just built a new graphics workstation, cost a bundle.
Dual Xeon CPU’s 3.73 GHz, 4 Gigs of RAM, NVIDIA Quadra FX 4500 512 on board RAM. Dual 21” Monitors. Needed to upgrade since half our projects our in HD now, and the performance of the old system was killing me.
This thing flies on Friday I rendered out an HD project, shadows, lights as a test. Previously rendering with my farm, took 2.5 hours. On this machine without the render farm, it did the entire project in 26 minutes.
God Bless having a boss that just says “whatever you need, get it.”

I would probably bring all the graphics into AfterEffects. This would allow you to maintain them as vectors by hitting the collapse layer transformation button(looks like a sun or asterisk). Create your animation then render to the preferred choice of your DVD authroring software.

It can be.
There is a place to link in the burning section to the files. Or you can use the Nero software supplied by eDVD to burn it. Both ways work equally well.

It actually works very easy, very intutitive.
You create in encore you menus. Button 1 links to videoA, Button2 Video B. Button 3 you want to link to a outside source, say a webpage, pdf…. You create a button, then link it to a blank timeline.
The next step is to create a DVD Folder from Encore. Then open eDVD, after picking your video.ts files, it will have a pulldown for each button in your menu. Select the button, then just follow the pulldowns to establish what you want to do.
After that all you do is burn the DVD and voila, DVD-Rom. The only drawback is that you need Interactive Player to access the DVD rom features. For computers that don’t have this, it will install upon being put in the DVD drive, but some people get all freaky about stuff like that.
