You can put the fire layer above the text layer and use a track matte for the text layer.

  • Yep, that’s what I’ve been doing. I guess this is like the opposite of back when we were tape to tape and were supplied premultiplied fills and separate hold out mattes. AE must need that “aura” in 32 bit to be there, not just fade from white to transparent.

    Agreed.

Alhough Motion does have some nifty things that AE doesn’t. Some replicators, and particle efx, personally I think they are just that…nifty.

Keyframing can be a painful process in my opinion in Motion and it really can hog computer resources.

Plus, VERY limited resources for help issues and tutorials.

    Stick with AE.

I couldn’t find anything when I searched. Easiest way I would think if you have the resources is to lay back to a beta and well, you know…

[Bryan Coleman] “However, even when i created the 720 x 486 comp, using a solid that’s the same size as the comp, I was getting the same results. So that would imply it can’t possibly be the machine. Right?”

Yep. If you want you can email me the project file and see if it does the same thing here. I don’t have another solution. If you want I can just render out here and post to my ftp for you, but that’s just a workaround heh?

Let’s stop bogging up the cow though. Here’s my email

Back to my original question then. Do you usually work with HD frame sizes? It takes a lot more computer power to play back this many pixels compared to SD.
Have you tried playing back on a faster system?

Can you tell I’m bored at work?! HA.

    What codec are you using?
    What is your frame rate?

I’m not applying any slowing effects to mine.

I just realized that it’s flopped, but it shouldn’t matter.

I didn’t get that it was a one minute comp. Didn’t know if you were working at 59.98i or something. Anyway, check this.

(bigger file this time, might take a sec to load)

If this is smooth to you then I would suspect you’re having disk playback speed problems. Are you used to working in HD frame sizes? If not, that’s most likely the problem.

I plugged in your parameters and got this. Am I way off here?
