The Verbatim’s in my local store are always on sale so naturally I thought these were sub par. My research and conversations with some support people confirmed that even within the same stack of discs they can be mixed from different locations. How is that for confusion? It took me quite a while to figure this one out as I played with bitrates and the dreaded – and + debate. Some people..myself included still have a DVD player that will not play one or the other. Also what I found out is my kids portable DVD player will always play one that is problematic. Here is the worst case scenario and is true.
I filmed a concert and had it shown in a pre screening professional location in NM. My little voice told me to bring the data discs as backup. So here we are all seated in the recliners when the DVD starts to skip, lock etc. Now I had checked these discs numerous times in many machines and even my kids DVD player. Worked every time not a hitch. Whatever brand DVD player this studio had revealed some kind of compatibility problem. So now all my extra hard work in designing menu and such went to waste and we were relegated to watching via laptop connection. Not good…..turns out so many DVD players are parted out to different companies and as such they use older parts, outdated firmware etc. More nightmares…… but true.

I can attest to having used it and it is a terrific tool and easy to use. Int his day and age of huge files why waste time and resources editing the full scale versions? Try it and you will agree.

If I understand you correctly you want to add a title before the beginning of your media. You cannot edit that in DVDA but you certainly can create it in your NLE and then just bring it into DVDA and then import is using INSERT INTRODUCTION MEDIA. HAve the end action for the media point (link) to your desired clip. DVDA has no editing capabilities it all had to been in your editor. If you keep that in mind it will save you some headaches later on. Of course adding menu button, text and background media is not really the editing you are talking about. Hope this helps.

I would not use the Top menu command unless that is what you want it to do. It goes back to the highest level of your menu hierarchy. I’d prefer to tell it where to go using the END ACTION LINK selection. If you would like some ideas on creating better DVD menus and such email me and I’ll help you along. You need to remember that DVDA is not an editor and cannot be considered as such. All of your work much be in Vegas and brought back in. If you add anything to you menus in DVDA it will recompress that menu to add the new elements. Email me and I’ll go into more details if you like

What you need to do is set your in and out points on the timeline so you will have a reference for looping. You can also add markers and it will loop to any of those. You add them the same way you do in Vegas …M…
In your media properties for any of you video clips you need to select an end action. From there you’ll see a drop down list and if you have done the prior you will be able to select those markers or the loop point if you have chosen that route.If you are seeing a portion of your video cut off that is also due to your out point offset from the end. Look at the timeline and if you see a greyed out area that is the portion not playing. You can drag those points

You should be rendering all your files in Vegas using the Template for DVD architect Video Stream Mpeg2 for either widescreen or 4:3. Then render the audio separately using AC3 format. Be sure to give both renders the same name so architect will find them. This is why Architect is compressing your files, MPEG2 is the DVD standard format and anything else will cause your problem.

Ideally you should not dump large pic files like that in the time line you need to resize them to your project setting using photoshop or whatever software you have to do that. You didn’t mention how many of those 530 pics you placed on the timeline. Rendering pics at full res will most assuredly run you out of memory in a hurry.

The hold selection tells it to do just that hold after the whatever is on the timeline for that menu. It has no action on what is selected or highlighted when the page is navigated to. The Hold command is only for the menu page properties.
I would delete the menus you added and start again making sure that you complete on piece at a time for your links, button order, highlighting etc.
The question to your last answer is no. Everything you do should show in the preview as it is the only means of checking navigation, timing and the like. Fix it in DVDA before wasting a DVD.
