Although I must say the 702t is well over my head right now. I have no clients nor projects to justify the expense.
Despite the difference in quality, have you any recomendations in the 500 range ??

Also, I assume from your comments that I do need to be carefully of khz ??
I’m thinking that what you meant prior was that my cam’s audio is at 48 khz therefore a unit that records at 41 khz would not be a good match for me,,, am I right ???

Thanks for steering me away from the fostex I am a lil new to sound and overlooked the low recording rate.

As to the matched pair’ I;m referring to ATW 1821D.

please excuse my lack of understanding but I’d like an example for the software and the also
‘i/o box’ … I don’t think I know what one is but am curious to know if a field mixer would fall into the category of an i/o box.
And, would a windows laptop not suffice for now, buying a MAC would set me back a bit leaving me with hardware that I could not give away much less sell.

Hi Peter,

Two words ‘duplicate’ and ‘mask’.

open the pic you’d like to alter
‘save as’ this is so you do not destroy the original
at this point the original is a background so make it a layer
double click the background and name it something
click ‘ add mask’ icon
now the picture’s layer has two icons,,,
layer on the left mask on the right
get in tight and select the mask icon
now use the erase tool to complete the task

Check out how it’s done on YouTube. Just search FAUX EFFECTS or find WACKYTRIXXIE and watch him work this same operation for a video project,, he’s great.!!

the markers are generally used for synching two or more video tracks and I felt this may have been the best way to help you fix your synch problem.

The help module in Adobe is pretty good at explaining markers but try this link where markers are use and see what you can learn about them and try to apply the technique to your needs.

2nd
as far as how to display the title, if you de-select the ‘rolling title option’ then you can display as much as the size and length of the title will allow on the ‘source’ and/or ‘program’ windows respectively.
However this will present a static title although you can, at this point, animate it manually with a path and some animation keyframes.

Let me know if I properly understand. If not give us more details of what it is your trying to achieve and we’ll try to do better for ya.

Sorry to take so long I had allot on my plate ,,,

In a word ‘no’ the whole slot issue thing is what it is,,, ‘ hardware ‘

At least I have never been able to get around it nor have I ever heard of a software fix. If anyone know different that’s fine just that I never have.

Maybe I am missing the big picture. Did you have this card up n running at one point then upgraded your software and develop issues in capturing video??

Hi Holly,

It is as Vince said, Video is not all that easy it just looks easy,,, so many variables where do we start.

Not sure what you know so please bear with me,,,

* as Vince mentioned, the presets need to be set to video because there is noticable difference between square and rectangular pixels.

* consider that Vector graphics will keep it’s pristine appearance and sharp edges no matter how much you enlarge or decrease it’s size so check to see that you are set for vector graphics in photoshop.

* while in photoshop resize your photos to DV size before you do anything else to them.
you can go with 720 x 480, but 800 x 600 allows for ‘zoom’ so I use that size allot.

* last, I much prefer to title within Premiere’s title tool, but that’s just me. I find that if I need to work around change and rearrange my text the title tool that created it should not get all iffy with me and just let me have my way on the fly.
If I need to be more artistic than the titler allows then, of course, photoshop of illustrator makes better sense.

Hi Aza,

I enjoy capturing the same way you do when I only have one tape and a really good sense of where I will be going with it, editing wise.

But the ‘batch capture’ is a really pro way to handle large amounts of footage because,,,

* it allows you the ability to precisely log the clips,,,
* offers a nice handle of frames at the start and end ( that you can set,,,
I like 3 to 4 frames for a handle ),,,
* allows you to give meaningful names and designations to help you work
with the clips better come edit time…

I admit that at first I thought this was madness. I’d stick a tape in the device, set up a new project and ‘let er rip’…

Then came the always laborious task of trying to remember who came first, what was second, ‘I don’t know’ Third Base !! rename this,, rename that ,,,
aahhh! Shazbat !!

Not me ,,, no more,, no way.
Capturing a ‘batch’ of clips and knowing that when you press OK every clip will be precise in length, well named, and ready for sorting into bins or just plain Ready to roll,,, that’s Priceless….

Hope you’ll try it.

Oh !! BTW the most important step in logging the clips is the IN and the OUT points.
It’s easy to forget to set the in-point immediately after completing a clip log so watch for that.

Hi Gary,

Not in Premiere at the moment but let’s see what we can do,,,

tickling the duration is not working for you so two ways to synch are to use a numbered marker, the other is to set time code manually.
( I know, this applies to multi cam edits,, but maybe worth a try )

The other thing I’m thinking is,, are the title track and the narration track linked ???

Play with these and see what happens.

Dave, Don’t know if this helps but many video cards do require that the ‘very next’ PC’ slot in line be empty.

If you have the next PCI occupied try pulling the card ( hopefully it’s not something super important ) and see what happens.
