How do you take out the background of a picture?
I have Photoshop CS3 Extended.
Can anyone tell me how to take the background out of a picture. I tried going to Filter and then Extract, but doing it by hand is very sloppy. I think there is a more automatic way to have Photoshop 3 automatically or semi-automatically take the background out.
Also, how can I insert an image into a Photoshop project?

Hi Peter,
Two words ‘duplicate’ and ‘mask’.
open the pic you’d like to alter
‘save as’ this is so you do not destroy the original
at this point the original is a background so make it a layer
double click the background and name it something
click ‘ add mask’ icon
now the picture’s layer has two icons,,,
layer on the left mask on the right
get in tight and select the mask icon
now use the erase tool to complete the taskCheck out how it’s done on YouTube. Just search FAUX EFFECTS or find WACKYTRIXXIE and watch him work this same operation for a video project,, he’s great.!!
