Ok, here is what Adobe did. They finally emailed me a link to PNY.com where the offer is stored. Great but, The price is $507 after PNYs claimed %30 discount. The PNY web store has a regular listed price of $925.00 for this card. This is the identical retail PNY video card that sells online at most retailers (Newegg, Mwave, tiger, ZipZoom etc) for $500 – $550.
When I bought CS3 I expected to get a 30% discount on the average retail price of this card making the price $300-$330. That is what is advertised on the Adobe web site. I emailed back Adobe. They have not replied.
Now I am even more disappointed with Adobe. I consider this to be false advertising.

Note: I did not double post this but I want to. Every adobe thread should see this. I have purchased and registered many Adobe programs going back to Photoshop 2.5 and I am very disappointed.

July 25, 2007 at 12:50 am in reply to: Trouble getting Adobe 30 percent discount on fx 1500Thanks for the tip. On the last call I made today I was promised a call back by 5:00pm pst (she said that she escalated it to 2nd level) and I told her that I did not get a call back the last time they said that. She assured me that she would personally call me back if 2nd level didn’t. I did not get a call back or an email. I did not get her operator # so guess I lost that one. Yes, I have wasted a lot of time on this – I just hate getting the run around.
Also, 4 of the 5 Customer Service calls I made to Adobe were to people that did not speak very good English.
Note: I am a well established IT/workflow system integrator with many prominent and interested clients.

Thanks, much appreciate the info as I plan on scaling up use of the Intensity.

Kristian, In a previous post you said…
“Intensity outputs YUV not RGB. Your Dell or any computer monitor will expect an RGB signals via DVI-D. Intensity does not adjust the framerate of the video to what is expected by the monitor unlike the HDLink.”
Sorry that I didn’t clarify that I was referring to HDMI->DVI displays… I am using the Intensity in the field and a …true… 1080i/p capable HDTV is a bit much to lug around (unless there is a small one made that I am not aware of) I am currently using DVI displays (on other HDMI and DVI ports), that are 1920×1600 (16×10) and they are manageable for transport and live monitoring of 1080i/p.
Thanks – Joe

So what is a suggested inexpensive monitor for the Intensity?

Kristian, Could you please elaborate as I was planning on doing this with the Intensity as well. I am currently using an Abit motherboard with onboard HDMI 1.2 out to a 24″ Dell monitor at 1920×1600 and it works fine. This system is however not the one that I am installing the Intensity into.
I am installing the Intensity into an Abit 680I motherboard and I was hoping to use one of the new 2407WFPs that I just purchased.
Thanks – Joe

There are many reviews of Areca controllers out there but the IO341 is fairly new so there is not much that I have found for real world tests.

I am looking at the new Areca ARC-1231ML raid controller with the IOP341 for 12 drives in raid 6… Sustained 600-900 write speed for post production.
I am however planing on a 2 drive raid 0 boot array off of a new 680i mb. It would be great to use raid o on the other 4 on-board ports for a raid 0 for quick UC SD if it is fast enough. I hope this will not melt he southbridge on the MB 🙂
