Which version of Encore are you using?

You can do it if you export to Flash in Encore CS3…but it won’t work on a DVD/Blu-ray disc – only in the Flash format played in a web browser with the Flash player plug-in.

That’s the problem, right there. Blu-ray does not support progressive frame rates in SD resolutions. Please refer to this white paper, on page 17:

You can try re-transcoding them to 50i, either outside of Encore, or let Encore do it.

Encore will allow that, but will transcode both clips to the project setting default.

You’re not mixing SD and HD in the same timeline, are you?

Yes, Encore CS3 supports this.
If Encore is re-encoding your SD video, then it is not Blu-ray legal.

The Minnetonka encoder is cheap compared to most.
You may want to go to videohelp.com and check for other multichannel encoders.

What’s the version of Encore in the About box?

Delete the menu, then recreate it and try again.

Encore supports multichannel audio, but it must already be encoded to AC3 or DTS (Encore’s Dolby Digital encoder is stereo-only, and cannot encode to surround – in fact, Encore won’t even allow you to import unencoded surround audio due to this fact).
