The user doesn’t pick which menu to go to when the menu button is pressed. You, the author of the DVD, do.
You want to look at Timeline properties, for Remote Menu, and set the menu you want the disc to go to there.

Encore projects are neither 4:3 or 16:9 – they can be all of one or the other, or even contain both aspect ratios.
Yes, your slideshows can be 16:9. Go to slideshow properties, and click the 16:9 radio button to do this.

I have never heard of Encore trimming timelines by itself.
Can you trim it back out? If so, it won’t transcode again (transcoding is per-asset, not per-timeline).
Let us know if that works for you.

Chapter index menus work for me.
Perhaps there’s a problem with your original menu? Can you post it online someplace for download?

Whoops, not mp4. Try the .m4v extension…does it import now?

I assume you were able to select the file in the Import dialog, but it failed to import.
Was there an error dialog of any kind?

Try setting the extension to .mp4.
If it still doesn’t import, or has to be re-transcoded, I would suggest more details on encode settings from Procoder.

Please provide more detail about the file: its extension, encoding parameters, etc.
