  • Can’t import H.264

Posted by Alex Kogan on October 15, 2007 at 4:21 pm

I have an H.264 file that I created using Procoder 3.0 that I’m trying to import into Encore and it’s not letting me import it. It shows up gray and unimportable when I go to import it. Anybody have any idea?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Which version of Encore are you using?

Please provide more detail about the file: its extension, encoding parameters, etc.

The file is an .h264. I’m on an apple and in the finder it says it’s a Unix Executable file. The paramaters I set in Procoder were pretty basic and I tried it as a raw H.264 and using an MPEG stream.

Try setting the extension to .mp4.

If it still doesn’t import, or has to be re-transcoded, I would suggest more details on encode settings from Procoder.

It didn’t open still, so here are the settings from Procoder:

Stream Type: I tried both MPEG 2 Stream and Raw H.264
    Video PID 2064
    Audio PID 2068

    Profile High
    Livel 4.1
    Size of Coded Video 33
    Number of B-Pict 2
    1280×720
    16:9
    Non-Interlaced
    CBR 1 Pass
    Bitrate 8000 KBPS
    Reference Frames: 4
    Search Shape 8×8
    Entropey Code CABAC
    All Checked:
Uses Fast inter and intra decision
    Uses Hadamard Transfer

    Motion Estimation: Quarter Pixel

    Checked:
    Write Timestamp
    Write Acces Unit Delimiters
    Write Sequence end code

    That’s all. Thanks a lot.

I assume you were able to select the file in the Import dialog, but it failed to import.

Was there an error dialog of any kind?

Actually, I can’t even get it to try and import. When I go to select it in import, either as an asset or timeline, it shows up as gray (unselectable). In the finder, it says it’s a unix executable file. Very, very weird to me.
