October 16, 2007 at 6:16 pmEncore will see it if I change the extention to .m4v, but then I get the error message that it the codec isn’t loaded. If it accepts .h264, why would I need to change the extention to something else?

October 17, 2007 at 7:47 pmI’m doing lots of experimenting for this, and I’m finding that a lot of files when I try to import them, including some quicktime files, tell me the codec isn’t loaded. Is there a way to load these codecs one by one into a foldier or something so that this will be enabled?
Thanks,
Alex

December 18, 2007 at 10:50 pmYes and no. What I’ve discovered is that Encore is very finicky about the types of files it will take. You have to use Premiere’s export to Encore function to do the H.264 mpeg4 file type. This is an excellent encoder which is basically Main Concept’s encoder.
The only other software I found that would create a file that could be opened as that type was Sorenson Squeeze and Telestream Episode, but Encore wants to transcode both and can’t read the proper aspect ratio from the file from Sorenson. Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest Encore and Premiere updates as a new once came out on the sixth. Procoder’s H.264 file is useless for this.
It will take an HD MPEG2 from Sorenson and recognize it properly and not transcode it if you should need that.

December 18, 2007 at 11:06 pmthanks, this all came about I re-exported my movie out of AE as the mp4 – that total file size is 2.5G -and its good quality so I figured Encore wouldn’t have an issue with it.
I also have a full res. quicktime (animation codec) file which will import into encore but once encore tries to transcode it freezes. I figured it was because this file is 90GB… so now I’m trying the mp4 but that would import either, but I’ll try the updates.
