Quit Encore, then do a search for these two files:
PaletteConfig.xml
ProjectPrefs.xmlDelete the files, the relaunch Encore. Your Preview window should again be visible.

It’s important to differentiate between First Play and Title Menu.
First Play is the item that plays the first time a disc is inserted into the player. It can be a timeline, chapter playlist, slideshow, or menu.
Title menu is usually the the parent menu of all other menus. The title menu is the one you see when you press the Title or Top button on your DVD player. It often contains links to other menus and submenus on the disc- ideally you can get to any menu from here with only a few button presses.

GPRM stands for General PaRaMeter. It’s a register that data (a number) can be written to, then read back by the player later.

Although Encore does write to GPRMs that the DVD player can read later and make a programming choice with, it’s limited to the behaviors that Encore supports, such as Return to Last Menu, etc.
Encore doesn’t provide a way that the user can write to a GPRM via the method you described, though. Sorry.

Yes, you can create a menu that allows you to choose audio and subtitle tracks, and then link to the tracks you want by using the Specify Link dialog (available from the Link popup menu in the Button properties).

No…the DVD-Video format is not capable of this.

You can link a button to a chapter/timeline/slideshow/chapter playlist, etc. with a subtitle. But you can’t link a button to a subtitle alone (subtitles are always over video from chapter/timeline, etc.)

Set the menu as Title menu in Encore (title menu is usually the main menu for the DVD).

If each timeline has the same number and order of subtitle tracks, then what I suggested should work. It would be a real spaghetti to link up, but it should work…

Justin, if may I suggest..a little time spent with the Encore user manual may save you many a panic attack, as well as lighten the load for the helpful folks with limited time who still find the time to reply to basic questions such as this. It’s worthwhile for investment- for everyone.
