  • missing preview window in Encore 1.5

Something strange is happening when I try to preview my dvd in Encore. The preview window is missing. It opens – and when I preview a job which plays a timeline as first play I can hear it – but the actual preview window is nowhere in sight. After ‘opening’ the preview window I can’t do anything else in Encore, it just beeps if I try to click on anything, until i ‘close’ the preview window using Alt+F4 (PC).

It seems to me that the preview window has somehow gotten out of the monitor frame. I’ve tried changing the monitor settings, maximizing the window and closing all the other windows in Encore (timeline, menus etc) to see if its hidden behind something but I just can’t find it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

Quit Encore, then do a search for these two files:

    PaletteConfig.xml
    ProjectPrefs.xml

Delete the files, the relaunch Encore. Your Preview window should again be visible.

    Thanks for the tip.
I’ve just tried it, but the preview window is still MIA. Any other suggestions?

That’s fixed it every other time this issue has been reported. Quit Encore, do another search and delete both files, and then relaunch.

Sorry about the late response. I’ve tried deleting both files again several times now, emptying the recycle bin, even restarting the computer after deleting them and before relaunching Encore. The Preview window is still out of frame.
Is it worth re-installing Encore to see if that will fix it?

One more trick (I’m running out here…):

Try holding down Shift+Ctrl while launching Encore. Hold these keys down until the Encore splash screen is gone and Encore has finished launching. Then try opening the Preview window.

Tried Shift+CTRL and the Preview window is back! Thanks so much.
