Make sure the tracks are large enough to show the sample plot or waveforms. Use CMD-L or CRTL-L and CMD-K or CTRL-K to adjust the size of your timeline tracks.
I can’t see your Red files, so I have no idea about your second question. Usually, when you record double system, you either use proper Lockit boxes on set, so you may sync on timecode (fast), or you use a slate/clapper/sticks to sync to (most accurate). In general, I discard any and all audio that comes with the R3D files, and use the separate production sound, and sync those up and edit from the sync clips.

How about Avid DVD?

I think the Avid QT codecs are placed somewhere in the QT folders. Might not show up in a regulare Search.

Also, you may consider using BCC UpRez for the blowup. Many upscale options to enhance the quality.

I’m afraid that you can’t. I’m pretty sure that the downscaling happens before you resize.
However, if you first flip your project to HD, then do the blowup, then switch back to SD, you’ll at least start with the larger picture, then scale down.

Reconnect is “Relink” in Avid-speak. It’s in the Clip menu.
But generally you won’t need to do that. If the media shows offline, you have to make sure that the media is residing in the right folder. Avid is very specific about where media lives.
If the media is OMF (old school), it needs to live in a folder named ‘OMFI MediaFiles’ (sic), and that folder needs to live at the root level of the drive.
If the media is MXF (current formats), it needs to live in Avid MediaFiles/MXF/n , where n can be any number (1 or 2 or 3 or 999), and the ‘Avid MediaFiles’ (sic) should live at the root level of a (media) drive or volume or partition.
If you open Tools->Media Tool, you can see what media is “visible” to the Avid.

Try using Animatte. You can draw up any matte(s) in various shapes and position it/them.

Are you able to play back that footage on your computer with something like VLC player or QT?
If this is uncompressed HD, you won’t likely be able to play that back from your drives, you’d need a pretty fast RAID config for that. -
Do you mean something like Restore Default Patch (under “Special”)?
