April 20, 2010 at 8:31 pmI’m afraid that you can’t. I’m pretty sure that the downscaling happens before you resize.
However, if you first flip your project to HD, then do the blowup, then switch back to SD, you’ll at least start with the larger picture, then scale down.

April 21, 2010 at 9:03 amI use the Resize effect.
I’m not sure if what Job says is right; it looks pretty decent over here.
I drop 720p items in to the SD timeline and I can resize them up to about 133% before noticing any degradation vis a vis the other SD shots

April 22, 2010 at 6:47 amI’m guessing you want to do it Pan and Zoom style? In which case, you can’t. Best to export it to After Effect, do your blow up and then re-import the finished shot.

April 22, 2010 at 6:39 pmI think Job is right about avid downscaling the material during capture. As he said you should try to change your project to hd do a batch capture/Import and then change back to SD. You then have to downconvert the hd material to SD. All this applies to file based workflow.v Working with HD Cam, in my experience capturing HD tape-based (HD Cam) material in an SD project results in better quality than down-converting the material in Avid. The down-converters the quite expensive sony machines use seem somehow better than the software based conversion.
