  • Sorry to lecture, but there is no such thing as a “Media Composer Symphony”. There is an “Avid Media Composer”, and there is an “Avid Symphony”. If it is a Media Composer, it cannot be a Nitris, since Media Composer only works standalone, with Mojo, Mojo SDI, Adrenaline or Adrenaline HD (or, since v3 with Mojo DX or Nitris DX). If it is a Symphony, it cannot be version 2.8, since there was no Symphony Nitris 2.8, they went from 1.8 to 3.0.
Whether it is one or the other will greatly affect the value, IMO.
Also, it would be good to specify the CPU included, and whether or not you are including storage, monitors, etc.
Currently a new Symphony Nitris DX system, turnkey, lists for something like 36K. A new MC with Nitris DX for 24K. You can look at sites like Ebay to see what prices are being asked for used systems.

Apart from having no more than 99 titles in a bin, I always try to keep their size under 40MB or so.

On longform, that often means no more than one version of a large sequence in a single bin. The more tracks in a sequence (V and A), the larger the bin. The more mediafiles associated with the sequence, the larger the bin. At least, that’s been my impression.

I’d start by slighlty bringing down the top of the blue curve, for the right hand shot.

I’ve been wondering the same thing from time to time for similar situations. At least, I think I know what you mean, having any shot on V2 or higher replace any shot on a lower layer.
I’m pretty sure there’s no such command, though.

What happens if you take your 24p EDL, open it in EDL Manager, and have EDL Manager generate a sequence from it in a 30i Matchback project?

    Just a thought.

Which version of software is the Lanshare running? I recall there were some FCP improvements in 4.24.

The upgrade to MC3 is not that expensive. Buying another OS won’t be free either. I hope you are not using an educational version commercially.
MC 2.8 handled P2 media rather well (I say from limited experience), but MC3 is a much nicer version altogether.
