  • How much in a bin?

We’ve been editing a very large project for a number of years now and have lately had a lot of problems with the AVID. It’s an Adrenaline system running on a PC that we bought in 2004. (I know, I know, a long time). Anyway, one of the questions that came up is whether or not we have too many items in the bins. Does anyone know if there is a suggested amount that you should not go over?
    Thanks!

Apart from having no more than 99 titles in a bin, I always try to keep their size under 40MB or so.

On longform, that often means no more than one version of a large sequence in a single bin. The more tracks in a sequence (V and A), the larger the bin. The more mediafiles associated with the sequence, the larger the bin. At least, that’s been my impression.
