    Are you in Green/Green mode?

Was the sound by any chance SD2? I don’t think too many current Avid systems would support that.

If you had Magic Bullet on the Mac system and you have not got it on the PC, it will only play back color corrected if you have those effects rendered and bring along all media (including those renders). You’ll not be able to change those particular effects, if they aren’t present on the system. If you extend or alter a shot during editing, part of it may not be rendered, and that will either play back as an unaffected clip, or it may play back as black, I think.
You could try to color correct with the Avid’s CC tool, or use another plugin that might be available on the new machine.

Projects and mediafiles are fully exchangeable between Macs and PC’s, as long as you don’t use exotic characters in file names and bin names, and as long as you kept your bin names short (or rename them prior to moving the files to the new system).

The safest way would be to copy all your media from an HFS+ drive to an NTFS drive. I use MacDrive on my PC, which enables the PC to read AND write to HFS+ formatted drives. I’ve even used them as media drives for offline stuff, but it is not recommended. On the Mac there’s a similar tool named Paragon, which allows OSX to read AND write to NTFS formatted disks (most current Macs will often be able to read NTFS formatted disks, but not write to them). I cannot imagine having to live without those two apps.

I often transfer projects and media between my studio PC’s and my Macs at home. Works all the time.

I’ve occasionally seen that happen on Unity, mostly when the application was incorrectly closed. The workaround is to delete the .lck file for that bin in the the project.

I think that any system should be able to tell you what other system, according to the Unity, is having ‘control’ over that particular bin at the time. If there is one system that is constantly ‘claiming’ the use of bins, there might be an issue on that particular system.

Make sure that you have right TC counter selected above the source monitor. It should read V1. If there are two rows of timecode, make sure the top one is V1 and set to timecode.

Do not move the .avb bin into that folder. Just don’t do it. It should not be there, so you should keep it out of there.

The first thing I would do is to open the Media Tool (under Tools), and have it display master clips for all projects on all drives.
That way, you should be able to confirm that the media you are looking for is actually there, and actually visible to the Avid.

Then, if it is, open the bin that should contain the footage you want to use. If the clips still appear offline, select all and choose Clip->Relink, and uncheck the box to only relink to footage for the current project.

You need not and cannot import the MXF files into the bin.
What you need is to place the MXF mediafiles you received from the post house on the right place. That is, on any drive (preferable not your boot drive), the media should be placed so that their path is:
    DRIVE/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1/1234abcdef.mxf
Within the ‘MXF’ folder, there can be multiple folders, not just ‘1’, also ‘2’ ‘3’ etc.

If the media is anywhere else, MC won’t see it.

You should not need to relink, it will find the links when you launch.

If you have a current system, and they are USB dongles, you can attach them to that system and run the application called “Dongle Manager”. It will tell you what licenses the dongles hold.

Don’t know about AXP, but in the Effect Editor, when you have an Animatte effect open, there should be a possibility to scroll down, and there should be a right window pane that has various shapes, and a brush. If you click the brush, a set of parameters should open up that lets you set size and softness for that brush.
