I would love to be able to pull that off, but I don’t think you can. One last try before manually overcutting would be to try “Relink to Selected”.

If your project was shot double system and has been synced in FCP, I think you’ll find that you will not be able to truely relink both picture and sound to Avid sync clips.

In a similar situation last year (120 min documentary), I bit the bullet and used the EDL to get the TC numbers, then manually replaced each and every shot on the timeline, video and audio.

13 reels can be a lot (10-min or 20-min reels?), but if you’re going to do this right, you might be better off spending a few days rebuilding the sequence manually, rather than spending days finding out that an automated process may not work.

If you are now on v12, you can take the sequences and media up to any other Avid, except for pre-1998 ABVB and NuVista systems. Any modern Avid can create and read Meridien resolutions and projects. You can even go the other way, except that you might use elements/features that the v12 does not know about, and it might choke on those.

One caveat is that if you are taking your stuff FROM the Lanshare TO local storage, you will slightly need to alter the folder structure on the media drives, compared to how they are on the Lanshare.

On a Media Network, the folder structure is:
X:\Avid MediaFiles\OMFI MediaFiles\USER.n\abcde12345.omf

On local storage, the folder structure should be
X:\Avid MediaFiles\OMFI MediaFiles\abcde12345.omf

If the folder structure is different, Avid won’t see the media.

From the Reformat effects tab, don’t use Pan & Scan, but rather use the “16:9 Letterbox” effect. Or apply a Resize, and set V to .75.

Does it work if you toggle the upper Master TC display back and forth between 24 and 30? That used to help on Meridien systems when working in PAL.

On my Symphony 3.5.4 with Classic Nitris, in a 1080/24p project, in the Digital Cut Tool, I get the options to output 1080/23.98p, 1080/24p and 1080/25p. If I choose 23.98p, I can choose an NTSC downconversion, if I choose 25p, I can choose a PAL downconversion.

I don’t think there’s an actual need to trancode.

How much is it? Can it be done over FTP? If not, you might want to specify your area.

What codec are the QT’s in now? The best way to get fast imports into Avid is to create QT’s in a flavor of the Avid codec. There are a hand full of SD and HD resolutions, so it depends on your source and destination which one to choose. On a fast machine, a transcode to Avid codec should not take insanely long.
