    Hello jhbrewer!
Is there any chance you are willing to share your what effects and settings you used in your project?
I am just into do this myself and I made a “mask” template in photoshop containing all the “bars” that make up the digits as single layers. I import this as a comp to AE and dublicate the comp for every digit I will use. Then comes the hard part of animating these bars/masks.
But which effects should I use and what settings?
You have given the opacity in this thread but is there more you can tell me?
Is there a chance to look at you project files?

    Hi David
The Pinnacle DV500 card is exactly the card I have been using with Premiere 6.5 and is the card I referred to in my posts. Since the scene detect was implemented in this fairly cheap card I thought it would for sure be found in more sophisticated software as PPro but obviously not.

    Thanks anyhow

Thanks for the input to Tim and David.

Too bad there is no way to do this inside PPro. Seems like a fairly simple function to implement since its been around for a while. I know its not perfect (the one I used in P 6.5 gave a lot of “false” detections when there was too much motion in the movie) but it was so useful that you easily forgive those shortcomings. Maybe I should get that old card running just to split some large clips.

    Hi!
No credit to me for this!
I was very frustrated when I encountered this problem and did extensive searches on the net. There were some other suggestions but they were rather complicated so I was happy when I found this.
And no, the problem is not “fixed” in PPro 1.5 since its not really PPro that is the problem. I was using 1.5 when I encountered the problem. The problem is with Microsofts Service Pack 2 for WinXP. If you do not install SP2 the media encoder will work as it should and since SP2 was released after PPro 1.5, you cannot blame Adobe for not “forseeing” Microsofts upcoming changes in the operating system.

Hopefully the “integration” with SP2 is “better” in the next version of PPro.

    hello!
If you are using Win XP with SP2 on a HyperThreading machine the problem is “well known” and one simple solution is the following.
Just before you start exporting (i.e. hit the save button), open the “task manager” (CTRL+ALT+DEL), choose “processes” and rightclick on “Adobe Premiere Pro.exe” in the list. Choose “Set Affinity” and uncheck the “CPU1” checkbox. Close the “task manager” and start exporting. If it is the well known problem it should work fine now. The next time you start up Premiere Pro it will use the “second” cpu again (i.e. the CPU1 checkbox will be checked again automatically).

    Hope this helps

  • Well thanks alot for this project Serge.
Although it was primarily intended for someone else, it showed me how to accomplish what I wanted. How often are you fortunate enough to get a ready made project answering your question so quickly?

    /Joakim

  • Hi Serge!
Yes that was the link I found at my second “search the forum” try (it only had invig and not invigorator in it so it was not included in my first attempts) and your project was the one I downloaded. I have now got it up and running with a trialversion of stuffit and it seems to be exactly what I am looking for (have not tried bouncing/sticking yet but my main problem seems to be solved).
From what I’ve seen so far your solution seems to be to precompose the 2d invigorator layer and turn the precomp to a 3d layer, am I right or is there more to it?

  • After a new search with different variations I found a link that seems to be about what I am after and it also contained a test project so if only I can get my pc to open a .sit archive, I might find my answers.

    /Joakim
