Unfortunately I never found a good workaround (though I am sure there must be some).
I use a template project and make a new copy of that where I replace the psd file with the one I want to use, keeping the same name. It works but has limitations.
If you are more succesful in your search and ever finds a better way, please post it here.

    best regards Joakim

    Hi Britt,
I think you are right. On my laptop I finally got it working by replacing the OEM drivers with the ones from ATI, only I had to use something called mobility modder to get the ATI drivers working (apparently Fujitsu-Siemens wont allow support for my graphics card in the ATI driver pack despite the fact that they do not update the drivers themself.
On the desktop it was a bit easier since windows update had drivers for that card which I earlier rejected since I belived it was better with the original vendors drivers (obviously not so).

So no it works and I really hope it continue do so.

    Thanks for the input.
    regards Joakim

    Hi,
I seem to have the exact same problem only I will probably not be able to use the drivers suggested by brit.
I (try to) run PPro CS4 with Win 7 x64 on both a laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Xi2550-31P with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2700 and 4GB ram) and on a desktop (ASRock 4Core1333-FullHD with WinFast PX8600 GT TDH, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz and 8GB ram). Evrything works as it did earlier when I had Vista x64 except for this very major problem, (i.e. I get no video in the source or program windows).
Anyone know of a solution or am I forced to return to Vista (I really prefer not to since almost evrything else on the computers works better on Win 7)?

    best regards
    Joakim

  • Hi Scott and thanks for replying. My understanding has been what you suggest, namely that a progressive shot wont be interlaced if not the output is specified as progressive. What maid me uncertain in this matter was that I used dynamic link to import timelines from after effects and when they are played back in the 50i premiere timeline, some graphic effects seems to be interlaced (but not when put in the 25p timeline). I am not sure it makes any difference in the final output but for now I render out the after effects files as 25p lossless to be certain (in my present project they are so “slow rendered” that dynamic link is useless). However for future projects it would be interesting to know wheter premiere will “interlace” dynamic link material in a timeline with interlaced preset.

As for question 2 and 3. For authoring of the Blu-Ray discs I will most certinly use encore. To author AVCHD DVDr discs that are playable on a BD-player I have so far used the HF100 camcorder, tsMuxer or Nero and will try out a new tool, multiAVCHD in the near future. I am not sure encore can do that.

    OK.
Then I’ll continue render the alpha.

    Thanks for the input.

I’ll use it in both Premiere Pro and AE and I use the luma matte option in both cases.
Just to clarify, in both methods I mentioned above I end up with a separate greyscale luma matte file (i.e I do not render RGB+alpha in the same file) to which (together with the “color version file”) I apply the track matte option in AE and PPro on to get the desired transparency. To my untrained eye they both seems to give the same result so I was just curious why one would go through the trouble of “filling with white” to get a matte-file when there is an option to render the alpha channel directly as the matte-file?

February 17, 2007 at 10:12 am in reply to: Upmix from binaural recording to 5.1 surround

Thanks very much for your input JC.

Since articles about upmixing from binaural to surround gives the impression you could get a faitly “realistic” result I was expecting/hoping those algorithms were implemented somewhere. I thought there should be a market if poor lads like me could make surround mixes using homebrew binaural microphones instead of expensive surround mics.(I would love to have that holophone mic you mentioned but my wife would kill me if I spent a full year of our savings for that.)
But until I get hold of any dedicated binaural upmix software I will start looking for some standard upmix plug-in or software and give your suggestions a try.

    Hi Blast!
No it was US$ I ment. The site I found quoted 3500 US$ as suggested retail price for the HD1, therefore my response, but if you can get it for 1600 US$ it is definately an interesting product for me. I’ll take a more thorough look for retailers selling that model.

    Thanks very much.

    What models do they have?
I searched the net but all I found was the GY-HD100 (and variants) which has a price tag far beyond my reach, and GR-HD1US which is still a little too expensive.
