It will take me some time to wrap my head around this, but thank you very much Kevin! Will try that tomorrow.

I also HATE that CS4 makes me aim for the little thiumbnail to open a clip in Source monitor. If i doubleclick a name, it automatically wants to rename the file. This is incredibly annoying. Filling a bug report now.

Shenza, your problem is NOT Vista related. It’s a well known problem with Premiere titler. It simply crashes when it encounters bad font. Try to run Font Doctor or some other application for font management.

No, it does not. I have succesfully finished some smaller projects on my lowly Acer laptop with Vista (even without SP1, but with SP now too), 1,7 GHz single core Pentium M and 1 GB RAM. It even can work with HDV, but that is a real pain. But it requires nothing ever remotely close to C2D and 4 GB RAM.

I guess I misinterpreted this feature. I thought it would SELECT (not mark) a clip on targeted track(s), so I can work with its effects for example, or access its context menu, and thus further minimize mouse usage.

Thanks for clearing that up, Jon, and sorry for sounding too ironic 🙂

But that’s hardly selecting the clip, and it’s been in CS3, so…

AVCHDs are incredibly taxing on CPU, but I think your Quad should definitely play it back. Does Premiere timeline show realtime or do the AVCHD clips inserted on it need rendering?

Nice to hear that Tim, thanks. I hope they improve AAF support.

  • I have succesfully imported AAF from Premiere only into Vegas 8. It’s extremely flaky, it imports all sequences from Premiere to one timeline in Vegas, but you can delete superfluous tracks and work right on. Both all audio and video with handles will be preserved.

It works. Getting Avid just for converting AAFs between Premiere and Protools is an overkill. And be aware that CS4 dropped AAF support altogether (although they promise to bring it back later as an update, as well as OMG support).

Yes, but they talked about how the same clips played OK in CS3.
