Craig,
Just want to make sure I am on the right path. Kbit is a decimal expression (1000 bytes) and kbit is binary (1024 bytes) so if they are looking for 3000 Kbits/s I can go 3072 kbit/s… ?
And can anyone weigh in on the non overt nature of Compressor regarding doing CBR h.264 files. Do I set up as Download to not get VBR?

Craig,
I get the basic math its the K vs k that has me questioning myself. If I am setting this up in Compressor I can set kbits/s so I am assuming if they want 3000 Kbits/s I can set up 30000 kbits/s… yes?

Edward,
I am using the update comp button. If I update frame that works as it should but comp does not update the comp. I will send you the AE file (assuming with no footage).
Thanks.

Nevermind. I found Dan’s useful layer invisible when facing away from Cam expression on MotionScript and modified it for y rotation.
Thanks Dan!

Dave,
Not looking at getting into a dust up over this, but you guys release updates all the time that fix known bugs (2.0 to 2.0.1 corrects AE exporter bug for example which is an update that is free a arguably would affect fewer people than an audio bug like this). So, lots of companies, including Boris, correct bugs all the time. I was just asking if it had been corrected prior to 1.7. That’s all.
But thanks for taking this attitude with customer who has used Media 100 since about ’94.

Thanks Dave. Thought that may be the case. It does seem like a pretty major bug to not have a fix for that does not require a paid upgrade. I do realize 1.7x has a lot more functionality which certainly is worth it.

April 7, 2011 at 5:17 pm in reply to: handling P2 HD footage in SD project to pan and scanSo I assume this is DVCPro HD footage. You can work with the P2 media natively from CS3 onward. DVCPro HD is thin raster so if you create a comp from a clip it will display with 1.33 or 1.5 PAR depending on if the clip is 720 or 1080. You can drop the clips directly into an SD comp and AE will handle the PAR issues for you. I don’t know how you are exporting the media from Avid and you might want to check them outside of AE to be sure your export is not introducing problems.

September 18, 2010 at 12:17 am in reply to: working with HD footage in Media 100 and After EffectsI will say that, first off, the DVCPro HD files are reporting as 960×720 because that is what they are. They are thin raster with a Pix aspect ratio of 1.33. If you want to can work in AE in a 1280×720 comp and AE will handle the conversion. I have round tripped a fair amount of DVCPro HD and I have really found the best way to deal with it is what you tried. Just work with your native mxf files. If its a long edit and you are really looking to do color grading (and if you have FCS) you might think about going thru Color.

Matt,
That was it. Did I miss something in the docs on this? Just wondering what else I should be looking into?
Thanks!

Edward,
so, its a manual process. Thought maybe I was missing something. I’ll give it a try…
Thanks.
