yippee it worked! your engineers came through and it worked a treat. I appreciate Jon’s patience, even when mine was getting a little thin. I’ll hold on to this tool you sent, hopefully your guys can figure out what caused the problem in the first place. anyway, i’m back to work!

So then I took everything off again and had my IT remove all the registry entries for Boris. And still it didn’t work! Not only did it not work, when I reinstalled, the license information was already populated. Something is still in my computer that is not being removed when I uninstall. Any idea where I might find it?

Peter, have you managed to figure out anything? I just uninstalled FX, Red, BCC Avx, and Symphony. Reinstalled everything, started the standalone FX and it crashed. What’s going on? I really need this software, I have years of projects that I need to open. Using Red is a terrible solution. Please contact me asap at creative@cheknews.ca and let’s see if we can get this running.

Thanks Peter, that saves me a long answer. Can you see any benefit in re-installing Symphony as well?

it seems to capture both tracks from tape to both channels. How do I split them and isolate just one channel?

fixed it! tracked down a folder called “workspaces” x’d it out and restarted and it came back up. Yay!

It’s not from fcpx per se and it’s pretty simple
I spend a lot of time jumping from project to project. A simple way of getting to most recent project would be really useful.
In the “Select Project” window, why not have a second window that has the 10 most recently opened projects?

we have two systems that we’ve built from scratch. I don’t know if we’ve really saved much, and you need to be really careful with every little detail, but they work great once they’re up and running. the latest one is a i7 with 12gb of ram and a quadro 1800 running MC 5.0 We’re going to go to 5.5 any day now. We have an older machine running MC 3.? on dual xeons that was also “home made” and it’s worked without a hiccup for years. Talk to a system builder you trust and see if you can do better going this route.

Shane, I absolutely don’t blame you for my purchase, I guess I should have looked harder, but I still think it’s pretty misleading. And yes, it’s great to be able to actually see what we’re cutting on a big screen. Who knows, maybe Avid will add PC compatibility in a patch. Avid, are you listening?
