Just to make sure that you are looking in the right place, have you selected a video format in the “Format” window so that the “Codec” window becomes available in the “Options,” and are not just looking for H.264 in the “Format” window? On my Mac, H.264 is an available codec for both MOV and MP4 formats. I am not familiar with Windows but I would think that you should have H.264 available as well, at least when you select MP4 as the format.

The Line Connection plugin might be useful for this:

Just a guess, but perhaps it’s an issue with using non-64 bit plugins with Catalina. I wouldn’t think that they would load if they were incompatible, but maybe they do and cause crashes when trying to apply them.

October 25, 2019 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Ribbon unfolding, but with a twist

    Hi Joanna,

From your image it looks like the ribbon is lying on the XZ plane, and elongated along the X axis. If so, I think you just need to adjust the bend deformer’s H rotation parameter. If the ribbon is oriented differently, try adjusting one of the other HPB parameters until you find the right one.

In fact, in your current setup it looks like you have already adjusted the proper parameter for the left bend deformer, so adjust the same one, probably in the opposite direction, for the right bend deformer. Hope this helps.

All that is required is that the spline is dragged into the “Spline” tab, which you have done. Make sure that the emitter is near the beginning of the helix, and that its emission direction basically lines up with the spline, otherwise the particles may not be attracted properly.

Thanks for your input Sam. I agree that there may be issues with notification, but that doesn’t excuse a poster from not checking the forum for themselves from time to time, as that is exactly how they got here and decided to post a question in the first place.

Why bother to ask a question if you don’t respond to those trying to help? I don’t know how others feel, but I am growing reluctant to offer assistance when so often there is no response from the original poster.
